Sometimes our involvement is a very transitory touch like at the check-out in the grocery store, and sometimes it's profound, like taking our best friend to the hospital because they're threatening to hurt themselves. In both those cases, we effect that person. We are involved in a relationship.
So, what's a relationship?
According to www.Dictionary.com a relationship can be:
1. a connection, association, or involvement.
2. connection between persons by blood or marriage.
3. an emotional or other connection between people ...
4. a sexual involvement; affair
Do you ever connect with anyone?
You do? Then you have relationships.
In every relationship, with every person we brush up against in life, there are 3 options: we can improve the life of the other person, we can have no effect, or have a negative effect.
Most times we plow through life with no conscious thought to how we want others to feel as we pass by - our world is too hectic, too hurting, too much hassle. Why bother to worry about how people feel?
If we effect people for the positive, our life will be more positive.
And what's the easiest, and least expensive way to effect others?
Encourage them.
Encouragement is more than the "ra-ra" of a cheerleader. It's deeper.
There are over 100 synonyms associated with encouragement - but in this blog I'm only going to focus on 7.
